Crow Crash Radio-50 Mason Social Club; SF CA 7/25/14

It was a bit odd, seeing the Birdsaw sticker on the backline drum set at 50 Mason Social Club last night. I think that those drums must have been Paulo Baldi's, on account of the Liar and Deadweight stickers. Sort of made me feel old!
Crow Crash Radio had one of those "just carry on" type of shows, in that both Brian and Andrew seemed to be having technical issues with their gear.
I felt that the ending portion of our set was pretty good, though, especially the Link Wray-ish vibes of Tarifa and our rave up action on Imaginary Companion.
All in all, a good, sometimes challenging time. There may be video footage at some point!

UB Radio #340, 7/20/14

I had a great time participating with Sheila, Ninah, and Das at the Chakra Chimp Research Kitchens of Northern California last night!
The theme, "Insects Feeding on the Corpse of Empire", may have been tough to follow, seeing as that we tranced out on myriad gongs for almost two hours. I read opening incantations from poets Steve Anderson and Luis Weisberg, both of which had, for me, sentiments related to the topic.
Did I mention gongs? YES!!! It was absolutely great to spend so much time trancing out on gongs of various sizes. I feel like we built up some really gorgeous, shimmery spaces. Tranced out!

Below: the gong players!

Many thanks to Sheila, Ninah, and Das!

Ear Spray-Berkeley Arts Festival, Berkekely CA; 7/18/14

It was a bit sad, setting up inside of the Berkeley Arts Festival space, seeing as that there was no art on the walls. "They're getting ready for construction", as someone said. A few more months, and this space will be no more!
As for Ear Spray's set, I feel like we did pretty well. Ann's skills with her video rig are improving, and Carlos was happy with the set: always a good sign.
I played the Nunn Plate and roto toms, along with turning my tackle box full of percussion toys into one big noise maker.
It was great to play with Aaron Oppenheim and Rubber (O) Cement! Tough acts to follow!

Infinite Plastic Internal-Luna's Cafe, Sacramento CA; 6/30/14

I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with Infinite Plastic Internal's debut show! I rehearsed like crazy for this thing, piecing together various bits of electronics, drums, and poetry into what felt like a coherent thirty minute set.
Happily, there were a few people in the audience, and I'm grateful for their presence!
Driving back from Sacramento, blasting Mercyful Fate and digging the crescent moon in the sky, possibilities opened up in my mind.
