2020-2021 unused song lyrics part 3

Last installment of lyrics from a project that did not get past the conceptual phase. Singing drummers ain't really a thing, unless you're Levon Helm.

OVER TWIN PEAKS

IN C GLITTERING AFTERNOON

SPOOKED FOG BRAIN BANKS

SORE FEET AND HEADACHES

WALKING OVER MILES

SIX SQUISHES

DAY AFTER DAY

COOKED MEAT AND OFFAL

COFFEE AND STRESS

WAFTING OVER MISSION ST.

SHINING LIGHTS FROM THE PARKS ATOP THE HILLS

TEA AND SWEAT AND COVETING

AFTER BOOKS AND PLASTICS

ON COLUMBUS

More Cartoon Justice tracks up at Archive.org

https://archive.org/details/c-19-garage-02-01-manic-d

These recordings are of Cartoon Justice stripped down to a trio of Mika, Kersti, and myself. Recorded under heavy manners in Richmond, CA, June of 2020.

A fun, willfully weird band that I loved being involved in. A different time, now gone.

2020-2021 unused song lyrics part 2

.....and, part two of this set of lyrics from a project that didn't get off of the ground. The plan seemed to be that I would sing and play drums. Singing drummers are never the best choice, unless you're nomeansno.

2020-2021 unused song lyrics part 1

This set of lyrics was written for a music project that didn't get past the conceptual phase. Seeing as that they are the only evidence of a project that didn't get too far, and that I kind of like them, I figure to post them here as evidence of some kind of activity in the last years of my "career".

All lyrics Copyright Mark W. Pino

If you use them, pay me. I you use them and don't pay me, you suck.

DRAINAGE CHANNEL CHRONICLES

LITE BRITE DESIRED

PROBABLY NOT THERE ANYMORE

CONCRETE HILL

UP ALL NIGHT

RARE BLUE SKY

CANYON CREEP

“IT’S COMPELLING”

AMOK PAGES

WHAT DID THEY DO IN THERE?

RED CURTAIN CAVE

NAUGAHYDE SEATS

PROMO PICS

GREASY NOTHING

“YOU’RE MY FRIEND, RIGHT”

DUDE I HARDLY KNOW YOU

….PASS THE SALT

I WANNA GO HOME

STRANGE RED CARPET

DAN IN DENIAL

BROKEN AXLE

HIPSTER GLARES

MILES AWAY

FUN BY THE BEACH

BEERS AND WEED

WEBER TONE BELLS

SPLASHING IN WATER

SPRING FORWARD YEARS

DRIVE ALL DAY

WEIRD WEDDING

PAST LIES REVEALED

PACHUCA LINES UP THE BLOCK

SMALL FRY FROM BRITAIN

LONG WALKS THROUGH STAIRCASES

WHITE GIRL AND GIN

LOADING UP VENICE

WALKING PAST GRIT BOYS

ENGINE WAS FLAKING

BEYOND BAROQUE FUN

DOWN BY THE RIVER

THE NATIVES ARE DROWNING

THE BAR IS NOW CLOSING

TO THE DESERT WE RUN

YOU KNOW YOU FUCKING HATE IT

LIKE AN AXE WITHOUT A HANDLE

LIKE A CAR WITHOUT A WHEEL

LIKE A ROAD WITH ITS GRAVEL

LIKE A COP WITHOUT A FEEL

LIKE A POT WITHOUT A FLAME

LIKE A RIFLE WITHOUT BULLETS

LIKE A JAZZMAN WITHOUT A HORN

LIKE A TUB WITHOUT A PLUG

IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN X3

LIKE A RIVET WITHOUT ITS PLATE

LIKE A FENCE WITHOUT ITS POSTS

LIKE A BOOK WITHOUT ITS PAGES

LIKE A VIRUS WITHOUT ITS HOSTS

LIKE A DRILL WITHOUT A BIT

LIKE AN AWL WITHOUT SOME LEATHER

LIKE A JACK WITHOUT A SPRING

LIKE A SAW WITHOUT ITS TEETH

IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN X3

GIG ECONOMY PARKING LOTS OF AMERICA

STAR IS LIVING IN HER CAR

AND SHE’S AFRAID OF I & I

HOW IS YOUR BURING GOING

ARE YOU ENJOYING THE HEAT OF FIRE?

ARE YOU LOOKING OUT YOUR WINDOWS?

ARE YOU LONGING FOR THE DAYS?

MY PEN IS NOT BROKEN YET

FROM WRITING DOWN THE MILES.....

BUT THAT WON’T MAKE YOU SAFE

AND IT’S NOT GETTING BETTER

IT’S NOT GOING AWAY

NOT AFTER A WEEK

NOT AFTER 90 DAYS…..

New Barney Cauldron track up at Archive.org!

https://archive.org/details/file0436

This recording, made in Scarp's basement studio in Oakland, Summer 2010, seems to me to be a great example of the grooving jam band vibe that Barney Cauldron was able to achieve. I actually remember this jam; we were all elated as it unfolded, and at its conclusion. Ah, the possibilities. Not sure why Scott quit, he just told me that he didn't want to play with me anymore. That shit happens, I've done it, too.
