Last night Cloud Shepherd shared a bill with New Leaf Society, at the Earl Watkins Memorial Hall of the San Francisco Musicians Union. It was under the auspice of the SIMM Series, which is organized by Rent Romus. Rent is a tireless supporter of S.F. Bay Area music, and should be acknowledged. He's also really friendly.
New Leaf Society played first. They are a very string-oriented band, led by their guitar player Michael. Very spacey free improv is their specialty. I was particularly impressed by their percussionist, who played electronic percussion. He was great.
Above: Joe, Brian, and Andrew set up for our trip into the Clouds
Below: Cloud Shepherd in severe mood!
After a short break, Cloud Shepherd played. We performed one long piece. I felt like it was a very primordial, raspy, churning piece. I was happy with its primitive feel.
Thanks to all who attended!
