Janina Angel Bath Group-I Am We House; El Cerrito CA 9/21/13

How nice it is to know that a groovy place such as I Am We House is located in my current home base of El Cerrito!
Janina Angel Bath Group played there as part of a 2013 Autumn Equinox celebration. Before the performance we sat at a fire. The music's energy felt quietly intense to me. We played a suite-like set, four songs that were relatively connected. I was digging on that low-burn energy. Hopefully the party goers felt the same.

Crow Crash Radio-50 Mason Social Club, SF; 9/19/13

Crow Crash Radio brought our Alien Americana vibes to 50 Mason Social Club last night.
I have to say that the neighborhood in which this joint is located seems to be shifting, just as all other 'hoods in SF. I wonder where all of the poor/down and out will go when the yuppies decide to really crank things up in the Tenderloin.Big changes are afoot there, too.
Anyway, as for the music: we stretched out as much as we could, but were constrained by having to play a short set. We got freaked, though, especially on our tune The Heart Has a Name and the Stones' Moonlight Mile.
At one point I resorted to yelling from the stage, something that got me in a lot of trouble in Ovipositor. Note to self: watch that shit!

Cosmists-Luggage Store Gallery, SF; 9/12/13

Last night Cosmists brought our drums/theremin duo action to the venerable Luggage Story Gallery in SF! I'd be lying if I said that there were more than five people in the room, but it didn't stop us from going off into our insular, emotional Space Music.
We played a set that consisted of four "zones":
1. Theremin with electronics
2. Theremin with drum kit
3. Theremin with waterphone
4. Theremin with drums and electronics

Cosmists hope to play out more than once, next year!

Crow Crash Radio-Revolution Cafe, SF; 9/11/13

Crow Crash Radio convened at the funky Revolution Cafe in the heart of the the Mission last night and played to a small but appreciative crowd. Some friends came and stuck around, some strangers listened and stuck around, and we had a fine time. Our tune Misstep Two-Step still needs work, but, other than that, I was pretty happy with our sound. Things got less and less linear and more freaked out as we went, which is absolutely fine with me. We also made friends with a guy from Moscow, who really liked our stuff. Thanks, Emil!

Mountain vs. Building recording; 9/7/13

Mountain vs. Building convened today at our sometime rehearsal space, End of the Earth Studio, to record. Sheila engineered, we played, (digital) tape rolled, and hopefully we got some usable tracks for some kind of release. We had fun, and deemed the day "The Sponge Rock Sessions".
Of course, any news of a release will be posted here.

September is going to be very busy! Upcoming shows:

Wed., 9/11-Crow Crash Radio at Revolution Cafe in SF.
Revolution is located at 3248 22nd St. in the Mission. We will play a few sets, starting at 7:30 or so.

Thu., 9/12-Cosmists at the Luggage Store Gallery in SF.
The Luggage Store Gallery is located at 1007 Market St.. The show runs from 8:00 to 10:00 sharp.
This will be Cosmists' first show this year! We will be playing with Pierce Warneke.

Thu., 9/19-Crow Crash Radio at 50 Mason Social House in SF.
50 Mason is located at 50 Mason in the Tenderloin. We will be playing with Spidermeow and Alphastare.

I may also be playing with the Janina Angel Bath Group at the end of the month, but that one is still shaping up. If you're in SF next week, you've got ample opportunity to support your old drummer pal Mark!
