Feral Luggage-Temescal Arts Center, Oakland CA; 12/8/19

Before Feral Luggage's show at Temescal Arts Center last Sunday, I had a bit of nostalgia as I walked around the neighborhood. Seeing the pentagram that is embossed upon the sidewalk of a storefront that used to be that of Ancient Ways, I had all kinds of memories floating back to me. Thoughts of happenings many years ago, there and at the Omni, which was on the same block, proved to be a bit bittersweet, as memories so often are.
Bittersweet too was the show. Sweet, because I felt as though we played really well, with plenty of great interaction between drummer Patrick Telesfore, Jr. and myself. Sweet playing from Kersti on woodwinds, sweet bass pulses from Eli, sweet guitar tones from Mika. It all gelled over a perfect 45 minutes or so of music.Slightly bitter on account of a very low turnout. I try to not let that get to me, but at the same time it can sting a bit. Feral Luggage will continue, but I wonder if we'll every be able to generate any kind of audience. As I'm typing these words, part of my brain is scolding itself for being whiny!
The experience of playing was worth schlepping out on a Sunday night for me, and I guess that that's what matters, really.

Below: used the Jungle Kit again, to good effect; Feral Luggage full shot by and Greg Cutler, thanks, Greg!
