Simian Wobble's Mad Broom Dance (A Folk Song)

A new track, improvised on my trusty Silencer Assembly drum kit.

Cloud Shepherd/Nux Vomica, Luggage Store Gallery, 8/25/11

The gentle dudes of Cloud Shepherd (minus Brian Lucas, somewhere in South East Asia), braved the wilds of 6th and Market, S.F., to bring our improvisations to the Luggage Store Gallery.
It was a really fun show. Nux Vomica was down to one member, who did really great discrete laptop jams, composed from his own files and files sent to him by absent band members.

Cloud Shepherd played one longer piece to start. I was feeling a bit emotional, as I could see out the loft windows of the space the very spot where the last Lithium Milkshake performance happened (Making Waves Fest, 1996, corner of Market and Golden Gate). Accordingly, I played with what seemed to be a bit more fire. Joe and Andrew responded. Joe sounded particularly inspired, especially on his C-Melody sax.
After the opening piece, Nux Vomica and Cloud Shepherd did a collaborative piece, which proved to be a bit more mellow, but also fun. A good night!

Cloud Shepherd at the Luggage Store Gallery , SF 8/25/11

Cloud Shepherd will be playing with Nux Vomica, this Thursday, 8/25/11. I'm very excited to play at this venerable institution for SF Bay Area improvised music.

Silencer Assembly has become a trio.

Max and I are happy to add Ian Robertson as the guitar player for Silencer Assembly. This development comes after we listened to the demo recordings that were done with Scarp in early July. All involved in that process came away from it with the opinion that the music was lacking a lead voice.
My co-worker Adam Symons, upon being asked if he knew any guitar players who might be interested in  playing with us, suggested his good friend Ian.  Big ups to Adam for that connection.
We hope to familiarize Ian with our songs over the next few months, and then commence recording and playing some shows.

This is my first band, Mr. Sqeaky, in 1987 or so. This photo was taken the basement of my parents' house in Montclair, VA.

Another shot of me, playing in Missing Link, 1989, Woodbridge, VA. I can recall wearing a Grateful Dead "Blues for Allah" tie dye to complete my really bad fashion look. Wish I still had that kit. I sold it to the bass player of the band, who quickly cleaned it, bought new heads, and turned it around for a profit. An early lesson in competitive capitalism. I ain't mad.

Me, playing drums in a Hardcore band, Missing Link, in 1989. Woodbridge, VA. That was my first drum kit (thanks, Dad). Note bad fashion sense.
